Keep your PC up to date with the latest software
Patch My PC is a portable and reliable utility designed to check your system against the current versions of Adobe Reader, Adobe Acrobat, Adobe Flash, Mozilla Firefox, Oracle Java, and Apple Quicktime.
When started PatchMyPC will scan for outdated software automatically. If software is outdated it will show as Red, if it’s updated it will show as Green, and if it’s not installed it will show as black.
There are also many optional updates that can be installed with PatchMyPC. You can install optional updates by checking the checkbox in the optional software. Optional software should only be installed if you want the software and it’s not currently installed.
Note: Some antivirus and antispyware programs flag Patch My PC as being infected/malware, although the application is perfectly safe and does not pose a threat to your system. This is called a ‘false positive’. The term false positive is used when antivirus software wrongly classifies an innocuous ( inoffensive ) file as a virus. The incorrect detection may be due to heuristics or to an incorrect virus signature in a database. [Similar problems can occur with antitrojan or antispyware software.]
